Title: Salamander Leander and Squirrel Merle

About: Leander and Merle are best friends in the forest! Leander is a fun-loving, bit of a tease blue salamander and Merle is an outgoing but very short tempered squirrel. Can you guess what Leander's tease is in this book cover illustration?
For this illustration I wanted to explore a scene with depth and varied planes for the characters to interact on. I also wanted to play with the composition to help direct the viewer's eye to the objects and animals he or she or supposed to search for. I imagine this would be a very fitting cover for a storybook made of search and find images.
The title's lettering was hand-made from a font and embelished with a soft gradient to best integrate it with the illustration's lighting.
